In a display of brute sales force, Toyota has brushed off the loss of nearly 105,000 sales of its top-selling nameplate to post its seventh consecutive quarterly gain.
The mass-market Japanese brand finished the third quarter with U.S. deliveries up 0.5 percent to 540,168, and it was up 1.2 percent for the year to 1,613,846 — despite sales of its top-selling RAV4 compact crossover falling 16 percent for the quarter and 29 percent through September from a year earlier.
